HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 c320W
Colonel DAY

asked the Home Secretary if he is aware of the inconvenience and danger to pedestrians and other traffic caused by the practice of driving bullocks and other animals through the streets of urban districts during busy hours; and will he consider recommending to urban authorities the provision of a by-law forbidding the driving of such cattle through the streets except during certain specified hours?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I have received no special representations on this subject, and I would suggest that a more effective course would be for the persons concerned in any locality where inconvenience is caused in the way described in the question, themselves to approach their local authority and ask them to take action under the powers which the authority possesses or can obtain under Section 80 of the Public Health Act, 1907.
