HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 c327W
Colonel DAY

asked the Postmaster-General whether it is possible, by mechanical device or otherwise, to deal with the delay incurred in making calls from public telephone call boxes, owing to the failure of the Exchange to limit such calls to three minutes for the original fee of 2d.; and what action is contemplated in this regard?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

A mechanical device to control the duration of calls from call boxes would not be practicable, but the question of exercising a closer check by the telephonist is under consideration.
