HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 cc345-6W
Mr. T. KENNEDY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the British steamer "Elphinstone" left Leith on 4th February for Copenhagen; can he say whether the vessel has arrived or is presumed lost; whether she fully complied with the Merchant Shipping (Wireless Telegraphy) Act, 1919, and, if not, in what respect she did not; and how many persons were aboard?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I am informed that the steamer "Elphinstone" arrived at Copenhagen on the 12th February. Under the Rules, one wireless operator was required. No operator was carried during the voyage in question. The vessel does not hold a passenger certificate issued by the Board of Trade. The total number of crew carried was 24.
