asked the Minister of Health what is the average net cost per person relieved in the Poor Law unions of Birmingham, Brighton, Canterbury, Great Yarmouth, Halstead, Newcastle-on-Tyne, Southampton, and West Ham for the year ending March, 1924?

Taking the net cost of Poor Law relief falling on local rates during the year mentioned and the average number of persons in receipt of relief on any one day, annual Dost per person was as follows:
