HC Deb 16 February 1926 vol 191 c1749W
Captain BENN

asked the Minister of Health what additional charge it is estimated would be thrown on the Exchequer by the inclusion within the scope of the Widows', Orphans' and Old Age Pensions Act of all existing widows of insured persons, irrespective of whether or no they have dependent children?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

It is estimated that the additional charge which would have been thrown on the Exchequer by the inclusion of all existing widows of insured persons, irrespective of whether or no they have dependent children, would have amounted to £14,000,000 for the year 1926–27.
