HC Deb 15 February 1926 vol 191 c1568W
Captain GEE

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that it is almost impossible to carry on a conversation in the telephone boxes at St. Pancras Station; and if he will, in the public interest, endeavour to have the telephone boxes removed to a quieter spot than the platforms?

Viscount WOLMER

The call boxes have been in their present positions for many years and are so placed as to be readily accessible to both arriving and departing passengers. Tests have been made while noisy conditions prevailed in the station and it was found that, provided the doors of the cabinets are tightly closed, both speech Anil hearing are quite satisfactory. The question of installing more boxes at St. Pancras will be considered.
