HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 c2306W
Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether the local tenants who have received notices of termination of the park and plantation adjoining Conon Lodge have been offered renewal of their leases, or whether the park and/or plantation has been, or will be, offered to the purchaser of Conon Lodge, or was promised to him when he purchased the lodge?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The local tenants of Rha Park and Plantation have not been offered renewal of their tenancies. As regards the second part of the question, I would refer to the reply which I gave to the hon. Member on the 7th December.

Mr. MACLEAN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the extent of Rha Park, adjoining Conon Lodge; whether it is suitable for a small holding; whether any applications for small holdings in this district are still waiting; and, if so, why this land is being sold to a private purchaser of Conon Lodge?

Sir J. GILMOUR

The area of Rha Park is approximately 7 acres. It is not considered suitable for a small holding. The number of outstanding applications from Kilmuir Parish for small holdings amounts to eight. This land is being sold because of its unsuitability for a small holding and because it is no longer required for the Board's purposes.
