asked the Home Secretary if he is now in a position to give the names of the persons appointed to serve on the Committee to inquire into the question of disinterested management of the drink traffic?

At the request of the Government I have now appointed the following Committee to consider the several systems of disinterested management of public houses; which have been put into practice, whether in connection with private enterprise or otherwise, and to report whether the experience already gained affords grounds for the development of any such system by an amendment of the Licensing Laws:

  • Lord Southborough, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., K.C.S.I. (Chairman).
  • The hon. and learned Member for Altrincham.
  • The right hon. Sir Montague Barlow,. Bt., K.B.E.
  • Mr. Henry Holman Gregory, K.C.
  • Sir Lynden Macassey, K.B.E.
  • Sir Thomas Paxton, Bt.
  • Sir E. Cooper Perry, M D., F.R.C.P.
  • The hon and gallant Member for the Hallam Division of Sheffield.
  • Miss Madeleine J. Symons, J.P.
  • Viscount Willingdon, G.C.S.I., G.C.I.E., G.B.E.
