§ Mr. BATEYasked the Minister of Labour if he has further considered the effect of the Order issued by his Department in February in connection with the mining industry; and if he is now willing to allow unemployed miners who have not 30 stamps on their cards to resume their Unemployment Insurance benefit?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDI have given careful consideration to the effect in the mining industry of the recent instruction regarding waiver of the first statutory condition for unemployment benefit, but for the reasons explained in the Debate of 9th March, I am afraid I cannot relax the waiver condition regarding contributions in the case of any one class of worker.
§ Mr. G. HALLasked the Minister of Labour the number of coal miners unemployed in each district in the months of March, 1924, and March, 1925?
§ Sir A. STEEL-MAITLANDA table, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, giving the monthly figures to the end of February last, was issued on 6th April, in reply to a question by the hon. Member for the Ogmore Division. No later figures are as yet available.
