Eighty-four salaried civilians and 26 wages employés are in receipt of exchange compensation on the following basis:
The first £250 plus 1s. 3d. of the balance of sterling emoluments per annum payable in the Colony is converted into currency at the rate of exchange of $1=2s., the balance of sterling emoluments being converted at the current rate of exchange.
All the above are serving or employed on the China Station. The Naval Attaché and the Assistant Naval Attaché at Washington, U.S.A., who are both naval officers, receive exchange compensation on the following basis:
£100 per annum plus 3s. 5d. of full pay and the whole of the local allowance is converted at the par rate of exchange of the dollar, the remainder of the full pay being converted at the current rate of exchange.
