HC Deb 02 June 1924 vol 174 c895W

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he proposes to continue the legal proceedings he has commenced against Ernest Alfred Hadaway for his eviction from No. 11c, Artillery Place, Woolwich; whether he is aware that Hadaway has served his country with distinction for 21 years; that his wife is in an asylum owing to injuries inflicted on her by a German two years age, in Cologne; that he has two young children in his sole care; and that there is no alternative accommodation available for him and his family?

I am aware of the circumstances stated in the latter part of the question, and in dealing with the case I will give full weight to these and all other relevant considerations. I must, however, point out that Mr. Hadaway's quarters are urgently required for immediate occupation by a serving soldier who is entitled to live in them.
