§ Mr. WHEATLEYPayments made from the Exchequer in respect of annual housing subsidies1923–24 during amounted to £7,857,000. The payment from rates in respect of annual loss on the Housing Act, 1919 (penny rate scheme) is estimated at £866,000. I have no information as to the payment from rates in respect of annual loss on the schemes carried out by local authorities under the Housing Act, 1923. The capital expenditure defrayed from loans during the year is estimated at £11,000,000.
