HC Deb 02 June 1924 vol 174 cc896-7W
Mr. BECKER

asked the. Minister of Pensions the number of pensioners in Ireland receiving pensions from his Department; how many of these are receiving permanent life pensions; how many are receiving annual pensions; and what is the cost per head in administration expenses for those cases dealt with by the Dublin office?

Mr. ROBERTS

The number of individual pensioners (men, widows and dependants) in Ireland is approximately 73,300; including wives and children, the total number of beneficiaries is 140,000. 10,550 of the men's pensions paid are permanent, and there are, in addition, 4,750 final weekly allowances in payment. I regret that the average administration cost per head of the pensioners resident. in the area covered by the Dublin Area Office is not available: this area includes the Counties of Dublin, Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Donegal, Meath, Kildare, Queen's County, King's County and Wicklow.
