HC Deb 29 July 1924 vol 176 cc1909-10W
Mr. J. HARRIS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether representations have been made by His Majesty's Government to the Liberian Government in connection with the traffic in contract labour from Liberian ports; to what port these contract labourers are being sent; and whether the representations between His Majesty's Government and the Liberian Government will be laid before Parliament?

Mr. PONSONBY

In reply to the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave him on the 21st of May last. In reply to the second part, the port of destination is Fernando Po. In reply to the third part, the correspondence with the Liberian Government is still proceeding, and therefore it would be premature to consider the laying of papers.
