HC Deb 24 July 1924 vol 176 cc1537-8W
Mr. R. MORRISON

asked the Attorney-General whether he has any information as to the operations of certain privately- owned companies engaged in the sale of housing bonds; whether he is aware that the agents of these companies have persuaded many working people to invest their savings in the purchase of a bond by which they could obtain immediate possession of a house; that after receipt of the bond money the promises are broken and all applications for the return of the money ignored; and will he look into the matter?

The ATTORNEY - GENERAL

The Director of Public Prosecutions has reported to me that, after exhaustive inquiries, there is not sufficient evidence to justify the institution of proceedings with regard to the matters complained of.
