HC Deb 21 July 1924 vol 176 c907W
Mr. HARMSWORTH

asked the Home Secretary whether the detailed registration of visitors by lodging-house keepers, as required during the War, can now be modified; and whether new Regulations will be issued requiring no information other than the name and permanent address, the nationality, and the date of the arrival of visitors?

Mr. DAVIES

I presume the hon. Member is referring to the requirements of Article 7 of the Aliens Order now in force, which are designed to obtain information as to the nationality of all persons staying at hotels, lodging-houses, etc., and certain further particulars in regard to those who are aliens, They are less than were in force in the War and are to very much the same effect as the hon. Member suggests in the latter part of his question.
