§ Mr. PONSONBYHis Majesty's Government have no intention of ceding Jamaica. This is a rumour of hardy recurrence to which no credence must be given. Nor has His Majesty's Government contemplated the cession of any other part of the British Empire to any foreign power. But it has been informed that its predecessors committed themselves to an agreement which may involve a certain small cession of territory.
