HC Deb 02 May 1923 vol 163 c1425W

asked the Minister of Labour the number of unemployed workers in the iron and steel trades at the end of the March quarter, or the nearest available date in 1922 and this year; and in what branches of these trades is the improvement chiefly reported?

The number of persons registered as unemployed in the iron and steel trades at employment exchanges in Great Britain on 27th March, 1922, was 90,280, and at 26th March, 1923, 44,750. The improvement reported has been fairly well distributed over all branches of these trades.
