HC Deb 02 May 1923 vol 163 c1425W
Major KELLEY

asked the Minister of Labour the number of men registered as unemployed who are ex-service men, and the number below 25 years and over 50 years, respectively, registered as unemployed, or, if such definite figures are not available, whether he can give any estimate of the number of men now unemployed who were too young to work before the War, and have never since been in regular employment nor have learnt a skilled trade?

Sir M. BARLOW

Exact figures are not available, but it is estimated that the number of ex-service men registered as unemployed on 23rd April last was 360,000—of whom 84,900 were under 25 years of age, and 22,400 were 50 years of age and over.
