HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 cc704-5W
Mr. W. ROBINSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the method of disposal of stores at the Kantara depot, and the actual value of the stores transferred to the disposal board on ordnance rates; the actual amount received by the disposal board on completion of sales; and the difference, if any, between the estimated value and the amount received?

Major BOYD-CARPENTER

Of the surplus stores handed over by the Army at Kantara, a large quantity were transferred to the Palestine Government at a valuation, and the remainder were disposed of in the ordinary course of auction, tender, etc. To obtain information as to the value of these stores at Ordnance rates, and to separate the realisations on sales at Kantara from the general sales account for the Egyptian Command, would involve a large amount of clerical labour, which I regret it is not feasible to undertake with the present depleted staffs.
