HC Deb 26 April 1923 vol 163 c705W
Mr. W. ROBINSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that two night watchmen, employed at the Bradley disposal works, one receiving £3 5s. and the other £3 per week, were notified in February, 1922, that their wages would be reduced by 5s. per week; that four days later they were notified that their wages would be reduced by another 10s. per week; that the watchman in receipt of £3 per week subsequently had his wages reduced to £2 5s. for a 51½-hours week, whilst the other watchman suffered a reduction of only 2s. 6d. per week; and that the former was off duty through sickness in February, 1922, and was not paid his wages for that period in accordance with his terms of service; and whether he will make inquiries into this matter and, in the event of these reductions and stoppages not having been sanctioned, give instructions for a refund?
