§ Mr. ERNEST EVANS
asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that many applicants for compensation for suffering and damage by enemy action were prevented by absence from the country and other causes from sending in.claims to the Reparation Claims Department at the proper time; whether it has yet been decided whether in such cases claims may now be made; and whether he will see that claimants are informed of their position?
§ Viscount WOLMER
Many persons have notified claims for compensation for suffering and damage by enemy action to the Reparation Claims Department after the final dates for admitting claims fixed by the Royal Commission on Compensation for Suffering and Damage by Enemy Action, alleging absence from the country and other causes as excuse for delay. The admissibility of such claims is still under consideration by the Royal Commission of whose decision the persons concerned will be informed.
