HC Deb 09 May 1922 vol 153 c2036W
Mr. BETTERTON

asked the Postmaster-General whether the Regulations of the Post Office provide any machinery for arbitration in cases where the record of calls carefully kept of a subscriber continually show a lower number than that for which he is charged?

Mr. PEASE

Complaints of over-recording are diminishing as subscribers formerly accustomed to an unlimited service realise the extent of the use made of the telephone and the difficulty of keeping an accurate record of calls when the telephone is accessible to employés and others both during and after business hours. All complaints of overcharging are investigated and allowance made when there is evidence of error; the expense of arbitration would be out of proportion to the amounts involved in such disputes.
