HC Deb 09 May 1922 vol 153 cc2036-7W
Sir J. HOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Public Trustee (Trading with the Enemy) has realised all the marketable securities which he has taken over; if not, what is the reason for the delay; and when he proposes to complete such realisation?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. Realisation of marketable securities is being proceeded with as quickly as possible, but the rate of realisation must depend on the state of the market from time to time.

Sir J. HOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether the Public Trustee (Trading with the Enemy) periodically renders an account of his receipts and payments; and, if so, whether such accounts are published or are otherwise open for inspection?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The Public Trustee as Custodian of Enemy Property reports monthly to the Board of Trade the value of German property realised by him. This Report is not open to the inspection of the public.
