§ Dr. MACNAMARAOn 1st June, the latest date for which statistics have been completed, the average increase in the cost of maintaining the pre-War standard of living of working-class families, as indicated by the figures compiled by the Ministry of Labour, was approximately 80 per cent. above the level of July, 1914. The corresponding figure for 1st July is now being calculated and will be published on or before 18th July.
