HC Deb 09 February 1922 vol 150 c313W
Earl WINTERTON

asked the Secretary of State for War if he will state the reason for the delay in the matter of the claim made by the trustees of the late Mrs. Louisa Gorringe for compensation in respect of the occupation by the War Department of part, of Holmbush Farm, near Kingston-by-Sea, Sussex; if he is aware that the land in question was relinquished on 22nd March, 1920; and that the agent for the property and the War Department agent, having failed to arrive at an agreement as to the amount of compensation payable, a claim was made to go before the Commission by the former and acknowledged by the latter on 22nd April, 1921, but that, notwithstanding frequent applications, it has not yet been dealt with by the Commission?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

I have been unable in the time available to examine all the issues raised by my Noble Friend, but the matter was held up until the end of November last at the request of the claimant's agent. It is now being dealt with.
