HC Deb 09 February 1922 vol 150 cc312-3W
Mr. STANTON

asked the Secretary of State for War if he can state a period of time by which all those entitled to War medals will receive them; will he endeavour to grant medals due to those who joined up in 1914 first; and will he speed up the delivery of medals so that the owners may wear them during their lifetime?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by my hon. and gallant Friend on 2nd November last. I hope that the issue of the great bulk of medals will be completed before the end of 1922. The work would only be delayed by endeavouring to pick out for early issue the medals of those men who joined the Army in 1914. The British War and Victory Medals are each being issued at the rate of 65,000 a week.
