asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the aggregate amount of War and National Savings Certificates outstanding on 31st March; the aggregate number of certificates sold up to the same date; and the number of individual subscribers?

The approximate number of certificates sold up to 31st March, 1922, was 559,000,000 representing an initial purchase price of about £433,000,000. The aggregate purchase price of certificates outstanding on 31st March, 1922, was about £329,000,000. The interest accrued on this total would vary with the dates of individual certificates but may be approximately
