HC Deb 26 April 1922 vol 153 c572W
Captain BENN

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury what amount has been paid out of any reparations fund to seamen on account of their losses due to enemy action?

Mr. YOUNG

The Royal Commission on Compensation for Suffering and Damage by Enemy Action have recommended advances on account in certain specially necessitous cases, and the payments recommended by the Commission are being made by the Treasury from the Vote for Grants for Compensation for Damage by Enemy Action (Unclassified Services: Vote 16). The amount of these advances on account recommended up to the 19th instant, in cases of seamen, is £14,097.
