HC Deb 31 May 1921 vol 142 cc846-7W
Captain W. BENN

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether his attention has been called to the case of ex-Private James Smith, No. 2966927, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders; whether the receipt of a temporary allowance of 26 weeks is sufficient to disqualify a man from receiving reserve pay, or whether a man on application can remain a member of the Reserve?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

The War Office has already been in communication with the hon. and gallant Member regarding the case of Private Smith. At the time when he was awarded the disability allowance, this award disqualified him from remaining a member of the Army Reserve and receiving reserve pay. I regret his case cannot be reconsidered and his discharge from the Reserve cancelled.
