HC Deb 24 May 1921 vol 142 c52W
Major KELLEY

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the development of the new coalfield around Doncaster and of South Yorkshire generally, any steps are being taken to arrange for a general town-planning scheme for these areas?

Sir A. MOND

I think that it is highly important that local authorities in these areas should combine to secure proper town planning. Already, with the assistance of my Department, a joint committee has been appointed for Doncaster and surrounding districts. The Ministry are pressing for a similar committee for the Dearne Valley. It is hoped also to take action as regards the Rotherham area when the proposals for the extension of Sheffield and Rotherham have been settled.
