HC Deb 04 March 1921 vol 138 c2186W
Mr. C LOUGH

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the task of winding up the Land Valuation Department has now been concluded; and what is the strength of the staff, if any, now engaged on the work?

Mr. BALDWIN

The work carried on by the Land Valuation Department as a whole is described in Command Paper 918 (1920). I assume, however, that the hon. Member is referring to the staff at present engaged in connection with the repayment of the Land Values Duties which were repealed by the Finance Act, 1920 The number of officials engaged on this work is 16, and many of them are employed concurrently on other duties. It is anticipated that the work of repayment will terminate during the present month.
