§ Mr. LYLE-SAMUELasked the Prime Minister whether he can give an estimate of the number of Polish insurgents in Upper Silesia and of the German forces under General Schafer; and whether the arrival of four British battalions will be adequate to restore the authority of the Inter-Allied Commission?
Mr. HARMSWORTHThe strength of the Polish insurgent forces has been estimated at figures varying between 60,000 to 1261W 100,000. That of the German defence force under General Hoeffer is estimated at 30,000. It is hoped that the six British battalions now on their way will render the force at the disposal of the Inter-Allied Commission adequate to restore its authority.
