HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 c302W
Mr. LYNN

asked the Prime Minister whether his attention has been drawn to the pronouncement made by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Cork, in which he denounced as murderers those who ambush police and soldiers; whether he is aware that the Irish Theological Quarterly, which is edited by five theological professors in Maynooth, and published with the imprimatur of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin, has defended the action of those who shoot police and soldiers in Ireland; and whether, in view of the difference of opinion that exists among the members of the Roman Catholic hierarchy, the British Minister at the Vatican has been, or will be, instructed to ask the Pope for a decision on the point?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

The answer to the first and second part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the third part in the negative.
