HC Deb 17 February 1921 vol 138 cc301-2W
Mr. T. GRIFFITHS

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that the attendants of His Majesty's Criminal Lunatic Asylum, Dundrum, County Dublin, are still compelled to perform 84 hours' duty per week, or 14 hours per day based on a six-day week; that this is 24 hours longer per week than the Broadmoor attendants have to perform, although the attendants at Dundrum were officially informed that they had complete assimilation with the Broadmoor asylum as regards pay and general conditions of service; whether he will see that the staff at Dundrum get the same hours of duty and conditions of service, including lodging and boot allowances, as that of the Broadmoor staff, and also that the attendants who were up to their full maximum pay on the 18th September, 1918, be paid their maximum rate of pay from that date to the 29th February, 1920?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

It is recognised that complete assimilation between Dundrum and Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylums has not yet been effected and no official intimation to the contrary has been conveyed to the asylum attendants at Dundrum. The points of difference referred to are still under consideration.
