asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the French Government have or are about to take over the Russian interest in the Chinese Eastern Railway and the Russo-Asiatic Bank at Hankow; and, if so, what reason is put forward by the French Government for forestalling other Russian creditors?

His Majesty's Government have no knowledge of any such proposal on the part of the French Government.
