§ Sir R. HORNEThe recorded imports of hewn and sawn fir during 1913 amounted to 6,980,000 loads, of which 3,658,000 loads, or 52.4 per cent., were recorded as consigned from Russia. The imports of pit props or pit wood in 1913 amounted to 3,451,000 loads, of which 1,539,000 loads, or 44.6 per cent., were consigned from Russia. A large part of 955W these imports in 1913 came from Finland and ether Baltic States which are now independent of Russia and open to trade.
