MR. JEFHCOTTasked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the case of Mr. John Houghton, of Small Heath, Birmingham, against whom Judge Amphlett at the Birmingham. County Court issued an order requiring, him to give up possession of his house to a 1825W person who had purchased the same from the owner, though he, Mr. Houghton, had an invalid wife, two children, and a bedridden widowed mother, eighty-four years of age, and who, in every respect, fulfilled the requirements of a desirable tenant; and whether he is prepared to issue an Order or to take such other action as will prevent tenants of houses being deprived of their homes during the present house-famine?
§ Dr. ADDISONMy attention has not been called to the case referred to, and I have no power to issue an Order as suggested, but the operation of the Increase of Rent, etc., Acts is receiving the attention of the Government.
