Mr. WATERSON

asked the Home Secretary if he is aware that, amongst the number of members of the police force dismissed during the previous strike, the following number of decorations are to be found: nineteen Distinguished Conduct Medals, thirty-two Military Medals, 173 Mons Star, four Croix de Guerre, one Italian Medal, and many other war medals; and, in the light of this testimony as to their courageousness and loyalty, if he will now see his way clear to reinstate these men?

I do not doubt that many of the men who were dismissed had served with courage and devotion to duty in the Army, but I regret that, in the case of men who have shown that they are not fitted to be constables this affords no sufficient ground for their reinstatement,
