HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 cc1336-7W
Mr. DOYLE

asked the Home Secretary if his attention has been called to the recent statements of Liverpool justices as to the great increase in the drinking of methylated spirits as an intoxicant; and what action, if any, he proposes to take to restrict the sale of such spirits?

Mr. SHORTT

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I doubt whether there is any action that I can take in the matter, but I am consulting the Commissioners of Customs and Excise.
