HC Deb 28 May 1919 vol 116 cc1263-4W

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether ho is aware that the Epping Forest Commissioners have refused to receive a deputation from the Wanstead Flats allotment holders; that the greater portion of the land at present used for allotments is of little use for the purpose of recreation; that many more people visit this area for the pleasure and instruction to be derived from seeing the allot- ments than was the case prior to their cultivation; that public opinion in the district is overwhelmingly in favour of the claims of the allotment holders; and, in view of these facts, will he again communicate with the City Corporation with a view to securing the extension of tenancy desired?

The City Corporation is the responsible authority in this case and they are no doubt aware of all the circumstances to which the hon. Member refers. The Board have already expressed their concurrence with the decision of the Corporation and they are not prepared to re-open the matter.
