§ Mr. HALLASasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether there are a number of women who are not dependent on their salaries for their maintenance still retained on the clerical staff of many of the Government offices, notwithstanding the dismissal of women clerks who are entirely dependent upon their salaries for their subsistence?
§ Mr. BALDWINI am sending the hon. Member a copy of the Treasury Circular of 22nd November last, under paragraph 3 of which Departments are asked to arrange for priority of discharge of employés not dependent on their earnings, when reducing their staffs. I have no reason to suppose that this request is being disregarded.
