HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 c2046W
Lieut.-Colonel HERBERT

asked the President of the Local Government Board (1) whether, in view of the increase in the cost of living, the Government will be prepared to amend the Old Age Pensions Act in order to allow such pension as will provide a minimum standard of living for old age pensioners;

(2) whether he will consider the advisability of empowering boards of guardians to grant relief to necessitous old age pensioners without affecting their old age pension?

Mr. BALDWIN

In answer to these questions I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer which I gave to a question put to me on this subject by the hon. and gallant Member for East Bradford on the 15th ultimo.
