HC Deb 15 December 1919 vol 123 c73W
Sir CHARLES SYKES

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to the fact that coal is being sent from Worksop into the Colne and Holme Valley of Yorkshire, and similar coal is being sent from the Holme Valley passing Worksop on its way to the South, involving cross delivery at an expense of 7s. to 8s. per ton, and an unnecessary haulage of 70 to 80 miles; and will he make inquiries into the matter?

Sir A. GEDDES

Yes, Sir. The Controller of Coal Mines is already in communication with the district coal and coke supplies committee concerned in the distribution of the coal in question, with a view to securing a rearrangement of supplies so as to reduce the amount of transport involved.
