§ Colonel MILDMAYasked the Minister of Health whether, seeing that the expenditure in the Western Union alone necessitated by the production of the registers of electors is estimated at a yearly £160,000, he will, in the interests of economy of public funds, consider the possibility of altering the procedure in this connection without any detrimental effect upon the registers?
§ Dr. ADDISONI would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the replies given to questions on the subject of the cost of producing the registers of electors which were put by the hon. and gallant Member 1669W for Torquay (Colonel Burn) on the 14th July and by the hon. Members for Eastbourne (Mr. Rupert Gwynne) and Mon-mouth (Mr. Forestier-Walker) on the 15th and 17th July, of which I am sending him copies. As has been previously stated, the matter is receiving consideration, and it is hoped to make arrangements which will materially reduce the cost of the registers.
