HC Deb 04 August 1919 vol 119 c52W
Mr. LYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will state the number of railway wagons ordered since the Armistice either by the Railway Executive Committee or by instructions of the Ministry of Ways and Communications?

Sir A. GEDDES

The formation of a Ministry of Ways and Communications has not yet been authorised by law, and the Railway Executive Committee has no responsibility for ordering wagons. I have no figures to show the numbers of wagons ordered by the various companies, but know generally that it is considerable.
