HC Deb 21 October 1918 vol 110 c464W
General CROFT

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he can make any definite statement as to the position of officers, non-commissioned officers, and men who desire to stand for Parliament and who are at present serving with the Forces; and whether leave can be granted immediately to such men on service in order that they may be adopted as prospective candidates?

Mr. MACPHERSON

Officers, non-commissioned officers and men serving at home or with an expeditionary force will be granted leave eight clear days before the issue of the writs so as to enable them to appear before the duly accredited committee or association of the recognised party or body of persons proposing to adopt them.
