§ Mr. BONAR LAWAs I have already announced, Lord Colwyn has consented to act as Chairman of this Committee. The other members will be:

- Mr. John Rae.
- Mr. Douglas Vickers.
- Sir Richard V. Vassar-Smith, Bart.
The terms of reference are, "To consider and report to what extent, if at all, amalgamations between banks may affect prejudicially the interests of the industrial and mercantile community, and whether it is desirable that legislation should be introduced to prohibit such amalgamations or to provide safeguards under which they might continue to be permitted."
