HC Deb 21 February 1918 vol 103 cc938-9W
Mr. BYRNE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office when clerks, temporary and permanent, in Army offices in Ireland may expect an increase in wages or war bonus; and if he will see that Government offices in Ireland shall pay the same rate of wages to their employ és as is paid in Great Britain for similar work?

Mr. FORSTER

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave him yesterday on this subject. As regards the latter part, the policy of the War Office is to pay its employ és, both in Ireland and in Great Britain, in accordance with the Fair-Wages Resolution.

Mr. PONSONBY

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether an application has been received on behalf of the employ és at the Stirling Army Ordnance depot for an increase of wages to meet the high cost of living, the wages at present paid being the lowest paid in the town; and, if so, when this application was received, and what reply has been sent?

Mr. FORSTER

I have agreed to the case going to arbitration.
