§ Major HUNTasked the Undersecretary of State for War whether, in view of the fact that Irish soldiers of all ranks in Irish regiments are allowed to wear their national emblem, the shamrock, on St. Patrick's day, he will give English soldiers in English regiments the same right to wear the rose, their national emblem, on St. George's day?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONUnder the King's Regulations special emblems may be worn on the headdress on anniversaries, provided authority has been obtained. I understand that the Northumberland Fusiliers are permitted to wear the rose on St. George's Day, but that no other regiments have asked for permission to do so.
